In his capacity as artistic director for TownHall records, Lincoln oversaw recordings by his pianist friend, Edward Auer. Auer is professor of piano at the University of Indiana. Edward and Lincoln were both piano students of Aube Tzerko and have known each other since Edward was ten and Lincoln fifteen. With legendary producer Max Wilcox (long time producer for RCA of such artists as Artur Rubinstein and Eugene Ormandy), Edward made the first of recordings for TownHall commemorating the Chopin Bi-centennial (1810-2010). Chopin's nineteen Nocturnes were recorded, to be supplemented with the Barcarolle, Berceuse, and Fantasy, in a two-CD set. In the photo above, left to right, we have engineer Eugene Siew, Lincoln Mayorga, producer Max Wilcox, Jung Wha Auer (Mrs. Auer), and pianist Edward Auer.
Max Wilcox, a fine conductor, pianist, teacher, and recording engineer, is the ideal classical music producer. In the photo above, we trust he and Edward can come to agreement on an interpretive matter before making a take! The recording was made in the Auers' spacious living room on Edward's new Steinway concert grand.
