St. Peters Church, at Citicorp in Manhattan, was the scene of a very festive concert featuring Lincoln as soloist with Steven Richman and the Harmonie Ensemble. The all Gershwin orchestral concert, which included the "I Got Rhythm" Variations, unique period arrangements by Ferde Grofe, and Lincoln's arrangement for piano and orchestra of a grand medley, was followed by recording sessions the following week at the State University of New York at Purchase.

On the Fourth of July, With the grand piano surrounded by bales of hay, a colorful barn in Vermont was the site of L'Ensemble's Americana ball. Lincoln is seen above holding forth on the subject of patriotic rags, along with 'cellist David Gibson and soprano Ida Faiella. The rag he's about to play, "Entertainer's Rag" by Jay Roberts, was said to heal the wounds of the Civil War. It quotes "Yankee Doodle" and "Dixie" and weaves the two tunes together in peacemaking counterpoint.

Not every day do you celebrate a golden anniversary, but that's what this was! Lincoln began his professional musical activity as music director for The Four Preps, the stand-up vocal quartet that had a string of hits from the late fifties into the sixties. They all met at Hollywood High School. Lincoln promised his mom that he would just accompany them for the school talent show, but the group signed with Capitol Records after Graduation, and Lincoln worked with them for more than a decade. This summer marks the 50th anniversary of "Twenty Six Miles", the song about the romantic island of Catalina. That's where this reunion took place, on the beach overlooking the harbor of Avalon. Catalina has not lost its charm, and "Twenty Six Miles" is now the official song of the island.

After the concert, The Four Preps signed autographs for a wildly enthusiastic crowd of all ages. From left to right they are original lead singer Bruce Belland, baritone Joe Dickey, bass Skip Taylor, and high tenor Bob Duncan.

Newest member of the Mayorga family is Ella, a Welsh Corgi of considerable charm. She certainly puts everything into perspective.
