SHERI and LINCOLN will be in the studio at the end of the month, recording
their second CD: "American Musical Snapshots: Two Hundred Years of American
Music". Last month we announced the formation of the TownHall Recording
Society, which is a subscription entity designed to entice music lovers with
fine recordings from the TownHall music catalogue, and to raise funds for
the production of this album. For complete information, please go to
The
TownHall Recording Society.
Lincoln and baritone Douglas Webster, his concert touring partner for over 150 concerts, were reunited this month in a benefit concert for the new performing arts center in Gresham, Oregon, which featured Doug's Broadway Baritones. In the photo above, on the stage of Mt. Hood College, Lincoln rehearses the rhythm section, Doug (not Webster) on drums and Mike on Bass, in a group of songs sung by Sal Viviano, at right. In the foreground, Kirk Mouser revises the program on his laptop. The living room set is for the Portland Repertory Theater's recent play, "Lend Me A Tenor", which Lincoln says was the funniest play he's ever seen.
With Lincoln at the piano, Doug Webster sings "Bring Him Home," the song he sang on tour as a star of the Broadway musical, "Les Miserables." As a duo, Doug and Lincoln have performed together in 47 states, at last count. Doug jokes that they are the Wal-Mart of classical music.
We couldn't resist sharing this photo of spectacular Mt. Hood, as seen shortly before landing in Portland, Oregon.
Lincoln was recently visited by two dear friends and colleagues, Peter Mose and Simone Auger of Toronto, Canada. Simone, now retired from her career as executive director of the Canadian Music Centre, a service organization and record label for serious composers, is an active French/English translator in the arts. Peter is a music educator and arts journalist, who is well known as a Contributing Editor to the American magazine Clavier. They are having a power lunch at The Summit, in Chatham, New York. Peter was Lincoln's piano student in Los Angeles for what Peter declares was "far too brief a period," before he relocated to Toronto in 1985.
